JADO S1 × Mobile Device Connectivity & Compatibility FAQ
- Which phones and OS versions are supported?
- iPhone: iOS 13+ recommended. For wireless CarPlay (if supported), keep Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi on.
- Android: Android 8.0+ recommended; for wireless Android Auto (if supported), Android 11+ and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi are recommended.
- Note: Support for wired/wireless CarPlay and Android Auto may vary by sales version. Refer to your model’s specs.
- What connection methods are supported?
- Bluetooth pairing: basic connection for calls and media control.
- Wireless projection (if supported): Apple CarPlay / Android Auto via “Bluetooth handshake + Wi‑Fi Direct.”
- Wired connection (if supported): USB cable to enable CarPlay/Android Auto.
- Companion app (if any): for firmware updates, settings, and log export.
- How do I connect an iPhone (CarPlay) for the first time?
- Wireless (if supported): Turn on Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi; put S1 in pairing mode; follow on‑screen prompts on iPhone; allow CarPlay, Contacts, and Notifications.
- Wired (if supported): Use an MFi‑certified/high‑quality cable; grant required permissions.
- After the first setup, S1 should auto‑reconnect on ignition.
- How do I connect an Android phone (Android Auto) for the first time?
- Wireless (if supported): Enable Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi; open Android Auto; pair with “JADO S1.” Some phones require enabling Wireless in Android Auto developer settings.
- Wired (if supported): Use an OEM/high‑quality data cable; allow Phone, Contacts, Notifications, Microphone, and Location permissions.
- After pairing, auto‑reconnect is expected; if it fails, remove old pairings and retry.
- How many devices can be connected at the same time?
- Recommended: 1 phone + 1 helmet Bluetooth headset (A2DP/HFP). Avoid connecting two phones simultaneously to prevent audio routing conflicts.
- Helmet Bluetooth headset compatibility and pairing
- Supported profiles: A2DP/AVRCP (music), HFP (calls).
- Recommended link: Headset ↔ S1 ↔ Phone (instead of the headset also pairing directly to the phone) to reduce latency and conflicts.
- My phone can’t find S1 or can’t pair — what should I do?
- Ensure S1 is discoverable and within 1 m; avoid metal compartments blocking signals.
- iPhone: Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth — allow app access; enable Location Services.
- Android: Grant Nearby devices/Bluetooth and Location permissions.
- Clear pairing history on both S1 and the phone, reboot both, then retry. Reset network/Bluetooth settings if needed.
- Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto stuck on “Connecting” or not connecting
- Keep both Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi on; turn off hotspot/tethering/VPN.
- First complete a successful wired session, then switch to wireless (if supported).
- Android: Update Android Auto and Google components; make sure the phone supports 5 GHz Wi‑Fi.
- Delete pairings on both sides and re‑pair; reset network settings if needed.
- No response with a wired connection
- Use a short, high‑quality data cable (≤1.5 m); avoid extenders/adapters/hubs.
- Ensure the USB port supports data (not charge‑only); try another port/cable.
- iPhone: Settings > General > CarPlay — remove old car and reconnect.
- Android: Ensure Android Auto is enabled and allow USB data transfer.
- Frequent disconnections, lag, or stuttering
- Take the phone out of metal compartments/thick cases; avoid strong interference (radio/intercom, dense 2.4/5 GHz routers).
- Disable battery/Background restrictions for Android Auto/companion app; whitelist them.
- Update S1 firmware and phone OS; if wireless is unstable, use wired mode.
- Audio issues (no sound, low volume, L/R imbalance) or microphone not working
- Check Bluetooth toggles for Media and Call audio.
- Select the correct output on S1 (built‑in speaker vs helmet headset).
- Enable navigation voice ducking/mixing and raise Prompt/Call volumes (not only Media).
- Android: Grant microphone/voice permissions to Android Auto/voice assistant.
- Notifications/calls/contacts not syncing
- iPhone: In Bluetooth device details, enable Sync Contacts; allow the target app in CarPlay settings.
- Android: In Android Auto, enable Show notifications; grant Notifications/Contacts/Call log permissions.
- Only apps compatible with CarPlay/Android Auto can display on S1.
- Reconnection and switching between multiple devices
- Auto‑reconnect is supported after the first pairing. If it fails, delete pairings and re‑pair.
- To switch phones, disconnect the current phone on S1 or select the new phone from the Bluetooth list.
- Notes for specific phone models and systems
- Android devices without Google services may not work with Android Auto.
- MIUI/ColorOS/EMUI, etc. may require disabling power saving and allowing autostart/background run for related apps.
- Firmware and app updates
- Keep S1 firmware and the companion app up to date for fixes and improvements.
- If OTA fails, use the USB drive/wired update method per the user manual (if available).
- Factory reset / clear pairings
- Use S1 settings to Clear Bluetooth list or Factory reset (menu path may vary).
- This erases all custom settings and pairings.
- Common optimization tips
- Mount S1 with a clear line of sight; route cables away from high‑voltage ignition lines and radio antennas.
- Keep the helmet headset charged; prefer standard‑profile devices.
- For wireless, prefer 5 GHz where supported.
- Information required for support and repairs
- Provide: S1 firmware version, serial/batch; phone brand/model/OS; connection type (wired/wireless) and cable specs; headset brand/model; symptoms, steps to reproduce, frequency, photos/videos.
